Seven Quick Takes Friday, Volume 27

— 1 —

I’m excited to be getting a jump on Seven Quick Takes this week. I have no good reason—I will probably have plenty of time on Friday. I just like to get things done ahead of time. So, while you are reading this on Friday, I actually wrote it on Wednesday.

A shout out to my Advent prayer buddy (the one who’s praying for me). Thank you for your prayers. I have truly felt them lately.

It is amazing what a difference healthy living can make, specifically sleep and good nutrition. I ran out of vitamins on Sunday. Monday night I slept poorly and Tuesday I ate lots of Christmas candy and cookies at the office. The day was topped off by an open-house with a beautiful buffet and wine punch. It probably would have been fine if I wasn’t already doing poorly, but all that food and a little bit of alcohol sent me over the edge. By the time I got home Tuesday night, I could barely get off the couch. In fact, Brett was very helpful and served me tea and (arg!) another cookie while my behind was firmly rooted to the sofa. I slept better last night and was able to begin taking vitamins again this morning, so I hope I’ll be back to my normal again soon. Actually, I have been feeling better and better since I started eating more veggies and less baked goods, and sleeping with a mask on at night. I hope this continues.

This weekend we’ll be travelling to visit Brett’s family for Christmas. The forecast looks good for driving.

We alternate holidays with our families. We were with my parents and family for Thanksgiving and will be with Brett’s parents and family for Christmas. Easter we’ll be back with my side of the family. So far, this works well for us. How do you handle holidays with your family?

I know Christmas isn’t all about the presents, but I can’t wait to see what I get. So far, I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of my co-workers this year.

Have a very happy Christmas! Don’t forget the “reason for the season.” God became man and was born in a humble setting. He lived to teach us how to live, and died to bring us salvation. Rejoice!

  1. We try to alternate Christmases with our parents, but its a little more complicated because my in-laws are divorced and live on opposite coasts. Luckily, my family is very relaxed about holidays and understands that we’ll see them when we can. For Thanksgiving and Easter it just depends on who’s available to visit us, since we don’t get enough time off to go anywhere.

    Merry Christmas!
