Brett has a job interview on Wednesday, January 11. It sounds like it is something right up his alley. Please pray with me that he gets the job.
I’m later on my quick takes this week than usual because I am actually busy at work. Holla!
Turbo Fire (caution: skimpy swimsuits/workout clothes). My in-laws gave me this workout DVD series because they ordered it and it didn’t float their boat. They give you a diet (which I refuse to follow), an exercise band, and a schedule of which workout to do on which day, six days a week. Because I think Sunday should be a day of rest, I decided to modify my schedule so that the break will be on Sunday, so I started TODAY. Oh my goodness, my shoulder blades are sore. I can’t wait to see how terrible I feel after I rest a while. I do feel a lot more relaxed than usual, though I think I feel that way whenever I exercise in the morning. I will find out this evening if I disturbed Brett or not with all my jumping and running.
Today is the traditional date for Epiphany, the commemoration of Jesus showing himself to the nations, in the people of the Magi. In the current Church calendar, this is celebrated on a Sunday. I don’t like the way the calendar is arranged—I would rather have holy days celebrated on a weekday if that is when they fall. However, I am sure that there is a good reason that the Bishops decided to celebrate this way. Maybe because it can elongate the Christmas season…party!
The saint for today is St. Andre Bessette, a recently canonized Canadian religious brother. St. Andre is known for rubbing the sick with oil from the lamp that burned in the chapel in front of a statue of St. Joseph. Thousands of healings have been credited to his prayer (in life) and his intercession (since his death).
My family members also outdid themselves, as did my co-workers, in gift-giving this Christmas. I am blessed to have people who care enough to give gifts that they know I will like. Case in point: “Santa” at one house, and Mom at the other, both gave me a Brita filter water bottle.
I’m looking forward to the surprise birthday party of a friend on Tuesday that will include dinner at a country club and a real live big band, with dancing. If I can get Brett to dance, it will be a small miracle.
Have a lovely weekend!
