I finally got the Downton Abbey season 1 DVD set from the library. I started out about a month and a half ago over number 200 on the list, and by Wednesday, I was number 8. Our library system is great with such a large number of copies of popular things—it was ready to pick up by the time I got home from work yesterday.
I’ve been thinking about how kids develop humor lately. I remember loving knock-knock jokes and puns. I also remember how lame it is when kids start loving knock-knock jokes and puns from babysitting and my friends’ and family’s kids reaching that stage. This joke got me thinking about it after I had to process a record for someone with the last name Larger:
Q: Who is bigger, Mr. Bigger, or Mr. Bigger’s baby?
A: Mr. Bigger’s baby is a little Bigger.
I sure had lots of ideas for quick takes yesterday evening. This morning, not so much. I need to start carrying a notepad.
We had ducks in our yard on Sunday morning. I had to go get my last blood draw done for my hormone panel, and when I got home, I heard something walking across the sidewalk between our house and garage. When I turned the corner, I saw her. The female duck was kind of stunned to see me. She stood very still as I looked at her (and took her picture and talked to her—don’t you know you have to talk to animals?). After I went into the house, I looked out and saw the male duck’s bright green head. It was sprinkling a bit, but we don’t have water near our house, so they flew away. It was pretty neat to see them, though.
Speaking of my blood draws, they are testing estradiol (estrogen) and progesterone. I saw my doctor on Tuesday after the first two draws, and he said my estradiol was good but my progesterone was low. I had my last draw on Sunday, and my follow-up appointment is on May 4. MAY 4. I have to wait a month and a half! That’s another whole cycle, and part of a second one. I think I can handle it, though—what else would I do?
I’m so excited to finally start practicing Easter music at choir practice. I get nervous about being prepared in time for holy days. Also, I love to get the “preview” and get into the spirit a bit.
I heard that this may be the worst allergy season ever. I’m hoping I continue to be okay. Brett has been sneezing up a storm, but I just have a slightly stuffy nose. It’s not enough to make me breathe through my mouth (at least not while I’m awake), so I think I’m going to be all right.
Have a lovely weekend and God bless you!
