Seven Quick Takes Volume 42

Two of my coworkers are retiring at the end of the school-year. For the retirement party, we are going to have a theme of “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” It’s going to be a “destination lunch scavenger hunt” or something like that. To go along with the theme, we are giving them beautiful books of travel photos, which the office mates and school personnel that we work with are signing. The books are so beautiful, with pictures of faraway places and dream destinations! I need a vacation…

On Monday, we’re having an office lunch party for two co-workers who will have babies soon. Sean’s wife is due in May, Jenny is due in July. I wish it were me.

This is Brett with our little nephew on the day he was born.

Wow. It sounds like we party all the time in my office. Believe me, this is not the case. However, we do know how to have a good time. We also know how to get down to business.

I went to a Chinese restaurant on Sunday and this is the fortune I got in my fortune cookie. Is this really a fortune or just a good suggestion?

This weekend the Knights of Columbus are welcoming new men into the 4th Degree and I’ll be one of two cantors at the Mass. The 4th Degree members are those guys you see with capes and fluffy hats. They provide honor guards and have a patriotic focus.

Here's Brett with a fluffy hat and a cape.

We had a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus honor guard at our wedding. A wedding is not a common occasion for an honor guard, they are much more likely to do a funeral. I think the guys were excited for this, so we had a great turnout.

I think I’m getting the hang of using Google Calendar for meal planning. The best thing I found about it is this morning is that I can copy meals I’ve already made to future dates. If you’ve ever wondered what Mr. and Mrs. G. eat for dinner, wonder no more.

  1. Hmm I need to marry a KoC b/c that is so awesome! I see it done on tv all the time 🙂

I love that google calendar 🙂 I’m coming to your house for roast pig! Shh don’t tell we eat pigs feet in my house most think we’re odd though. I have a meal plan board I want to make I found on pinterest. Someday I’ll get to it ha

That fortune cookie is too funny. My FAVORITE fortune cookie I’ve ever seen is one my sister got that said “help literacy buy more fortune cookies!!” that happened probably 10 years ago and we still laugh about it!

    • That was April so you already missed the roast pig- it wasn’t at my house, though, it was at a softball tournament at the seminary near us (Pontifical College Josephinum).

  2. I know I’ve said it before but I really do love to read your blogs. And I enjoy the pictures. Thanks for sharing! Love you!
