Seven Quick Takes

— 1 —

I haven’t written Quick Takes in quite a while. Let’s see if I can do this!

I’m looking for new ideas for lunch. I carry my lunch to work, I prefer not to use the microwave, and I feel better if I don’t eat much bread. I have a salad almost every day. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Menu planning is still going okay for me, but I’d like to branch out. I’m going to start by using “Auntie Leila”s Worksheet I, which I found here. Leila and her young adult daughters write a wonderful blog together, and this worksheet seems to be so useful. It is supposed to help you to plan meals that your family will really like. I plan meals every week, but sometimes they are just “eh” to both Brett and me. I’d like to come up with things I know we’ll like.

Our bunny April was stubborn or sick when I came back from Maine. Brett had to force-feed her a few times, but she’s back to normal now. Rabbits sometimes stop eating when they feel poorly or are stressed out. This is very bad because their digestive tracts must be moving at all times. If they stop eating, they can succumb quite quickly. Oxbow Critical Care is a food replacer that can be syringe fed to small mammals when they refuse to eat. You have to get it from your vet but it can be a lifesaver. People sometimes think that bunnies only live two or three years, but our oldest one is probably six years old, and our youngest is probably close to three. They are all pretty healthy, except when April or Emmet decides they don’t want to eat. We have never had this problem with Ruby. We call her Miss Piggy.

I’m reading the Catechism in a year with help from Flocknote. This is a pretty cool thing. They deliver small sections of the Catechism to your e-mail inbox daily. I have always wanted to read the whole thing, but I lose my motivation quickly with a thick book. However, there are blogs which I have read every entry in for the past year or two. I am counting on the small chunks to be my big help here.

I found a great Pandora station for work. It’s called Classical for Studying . Too bad my cube-mate doesn’t like classical music. I’ll have to turn it off when she comes back to work on Monday.

I guess I can do Seven Quick Takes. God bless you and have a wonderful weekend!
