I cut my bangs this past weekend. Yes I cut my bangs. I wanted a change and I think my face looks less long and skinny with them.
My car has a broken sway bar. I’m such a lucky girl to have a dad who can fix cars. He took my car on Saturday and left me his. I haven’t heard from him yet so I hope that he’s been able to find the stuff he needs to fix it. I’m going to call him later.
We went to a potluck last night, we’re planning to go to an event tomorrow night, there’s a reception on Monday night, and Thursday is Thanksgiving. What does this mean? For me it means very little cooking, and the cooking I do have to do is fun cooking, making sides and dessert to bring to my Grammy’s for Thanksgiving. I’m pretty excited!
I enjoy Thanksgiving so much because the pressure is off. It’s just a fun time to get together with family and friends, enjoy a nice meal, and thank God for all the gifts he’s given. On Christmas, there’s always the pressure of gifts, what should I give, what will I get, will people like what I give them, can I afford it, etc. The religious part of Christmas is beautiful and holy, but sometimes the secular part is sometimes very stressful.
Remember back in July when I blogged about a Bottle Challenge to collect money for a little boy called Brett, an orphan with CP who needs a family? I was excited to hear from Jen this morning that a family has found him and wants to adopt him, and a sister for him! They still need to do some fundraising for the adoption. Can you help out? Go here to donate. And continue to pray for Brett and Delilah. They still have a way to go before they join their forever family.
A busy and varied week makes for an empty blog and a good Quick Takes 😉
Prayer requests for this week: For my husband Brett, as he finishes his coursework for his teaching credential, and that he finds a full-time job soon; For Brett the orphan and Delilah; For a friend’s mom who’s suffering from cancer; For a non-life-threatening health problem of mine that I don’t feel comfortable discussing; For families that want to add new members and are having a hard go of it; For all Christians to become what they are and spread the Good News with their lives and words.
What prayer requests do you have?
If you don’t want to post them here, feel free to e-mail me at p i n e c o n e j g (at) g m a i l (dot) c o m (all one word, natch).
God bless you and have a lovely weekend.
